This was a bit of an ambitious pieces for me. I worked on this piece at the end of July and early August.

It started with the Bird of Paradise in our bedroom and a leaf unfurling. The idea is plant shapes as land shapes.

I have a Queen of the Night Orchid cactus that sits on my working from home desk. I love the leaves. I sketched out the lowest leaf for a dune.

I will probably revisit the below design for a future stained glass piece. At this time, I was listening to Insomnia by Stephen King and so I took a couple notes related to the book in my notepad.

At first, I was going to stick with the blue reflected in my draft.

I decided to add clouds to try and add a bit of balance and made a few modifications.

I decided for the textures to use primarily opaque and clear glass with the exception of the sun. For the sun I used a glass with a seedy texture.

I felt like the clear green complimented the idea of light and the opaque glass one of shadow.
