Here is the mat as a blank slate.

I have a few little outdoor projects that I know this paint will come in handy for other than just these mats. Here are the colors I picked up from Lowe's. Both were HGTV home paint colors. The cream was Diamond Weave and the red orange was Warm Sienna. I had the colors mixed in an exterior weather shield paint.

My home decor style is pretty southwest and lately I have been all about wavy lines.
I started with my snakes tail and worked backwards. I tried to keep my snake fun and imperfect.

At this point I was pretty much in love with how it was coming out. lol.
You can see below that I would generally lightly paint out the shape then fill it in slowly.

I thought about just stopping here because I really like the simplicity of what I was starting to think of as a dancing snake.

Originally I was going to do starbursts instead of circles, but I wasn't getting the super crisp lines I thought I would going into the project... so I opted for circles.
I used a roll of elastic as a my template and then painted over the lines after painting inside them.

I didn't want the pups to step on it so I dried it on top of the trash can. Ya gotta use what ya got handy.

I am so in love with this door mat! Here it is at our side door.

Brutus approved.
