“What side of history will we stand on? A racist is someone who is supporting a racist policy by their actions or inaction or expressing a racist idea. An antiracist is someone who is supporting an antiracist policy by their actions or expressing an antiracist idea. “Racist” and “antiracist” are like peelable name tags that are placed and replaced based on what someone is doing or not doing, supporting or expressing in each moment. These are not permanent tattoos. No one becomes a racist or antiracist. We can only strive to be one or the other.”

Excerpt From: Ibram X. Kendi. “How to Be an Antiracist.”

This year I have been trying to be intentional about investing time in hobbies I enjoy to improve my personal skill set. So I have been making it a point to sketch more often. There have been long sketches of time in my life that I let my desire to create get buried in life.

Mostly I am just drawing different views around our house that I like or plants. It's been fun and has been a new way to document small moments in these days that seem to merge together.

Here are some of favorites from the last month or so.

Our front gate minus a mailbox on the door. Artist's liberties you know :).

A candle, planter, saucer on a shelf.

View from our hammock of a hanging planter outside.

And part of a plant.

Bird of paradise leaves in our bedroom.

A wind chime made of shells hanging on our porch.

A flower bud about to open.

A flower.

thanks for checking these out.

Since I have been spending so much time at home, I have been trying to evaluate how I might make better use of all the stuff in my house. I have also been spending significantly more time outside on our patio than ever before.

A couple years ago I picked up a hat with kinda tropical vibes with a black ribbon. I really like how comfortable it is to wear, and the wider brim provides better sun coverage. It has been great for hikes and camping.

I love a good draw string on a hat because these spring time New Mexico Winds are no joke. The actual straw hat was a bit scratchy but still functions great as wall decor.

Here are both of the hats before I made any modifications:

The black ribbon is just so not doing it for me. It was just glued down so it was pretty easy to gently remove. From there, I decided to use the draw string from my other hat because like I said the winds can get bad.

Here the strap was just untied and slipped off.

I used the handiest tool of them all, the seam ripper. I used it to create a hole in my hat I was transferring the string over too and slit between the headband and hat.

Love ya little buddy.

Here the string was poking out and I tied a new knot.

Dang, she's a cutie. One side to go.

Little Bagheera came to try and steal my tassel.

I'm pleased with how it turned out.

It functions amazingly. It's been great to bring an old hat out of retirement with a new look.

I'd love to hear if you have been updating or re-working any of the stuff at home or that you wear.

.:BIRD WATCH UPDATE:.

Did not utilize either feeder, but entertained both cats and our Luna dog. I also ordered a humming bird feeder from amazon. We already see them often in the yard, I am excited to hopefully really see them draw in.
